Web Data

Reads a web address that answers with JSON (or text) and keeps it fresh: once at start, then every Interval seconds (0 = only on Refresh), and when Refresh rises. JSON arrives as JSON with its key order kept — JSON Break and JSON Get pick fields out of it, or Field picks one here (e.g. local.wind_speed). Updated pulses for one frame when a new answer arrives. The last good answer stays while the source is down; Age says how old it is in seconds. Headers and a token (kept in the Keychain) are in the Settings tab. Every service has its own terms — commercial use, how often you may ask, the credit it requires: check them before you use an address in a show or a product.

Inputs

EnableOff stops asking and forgets the answer.booltrue
URLThe web address, https:// (plain http:// only for addresses macOS allows, e.g. this Mac or the local network). Query parameters go in the address: ?lat=56.5&lon=21.0. Check the service's terms (commercial use, rate, credit) before you use it in a show or product.stringhttps://
IntervalSeconds between requests: 900 (15 min) suits weather and earthquake feeds; 0 = only when Refresh rises. Unchanged answers cost almost nothing (ETag), and a failing source is retried after 5, 10, 20 … s, at most 5 min.float900
RefreshA rising edge asks again now (at most once a second).boolfalse
FieldPick one field of a JSON answer with a dotted path, e.g. local.wind_speed or volcanoes.volcanoes[1].unrest (a list item in brackets). Empty = the whole answer on Data.string
