Network node
OSC Receiver
Receive OSC messages over UDP network.
Inputs
| Port | Type | Default |
|---|---|---|
| EnableStarts and stops the UDP listener. Off closes the socket and reports not listening; the discovered output ports stay on the node. | bool | true |
| Clean PortsWhile true, output ports whose OSC address is no longer arriving are removed. Pulse it after changing the sending device, not continuously. | bool | false |

How It Works
Listens for OSC (Open Sound Control) messages on a UDP port configured in Settings. When a message arrives at an OSC address (e.g., /fader1), a corresponding output port is automatically created on the node. Each unique OSC address path generates its own output port, making the node self-configuring based on incoming data. Supports float, int, string, and bool OSC argument types. The Clean Ports input removes output ports that have not received data recently, keeping the node tidy when switching between OSC sources.
Use Cases
- Receiving fader and knob values from TouchOSC or similar control surfaces
- Integrating live performance controllers into a visual pipeline
- Receiving motion data from OSC-enabled sensors or tracking systems
- Bridging audio software (Ableton Live, Max/MSP) into Grafit via OSC
Tips
- Configure the listening port in the app Settings before enabling the node
- OSC address paths become the names of dynamic output ports — use descriptive addresses in your sender for clarity
- Use Clean Ports after switching OSC sources to remove stale output ports
- Multiple OSC Receiver nodes can listen on different ports for separate data streams
