Letter Post
Public messages, one shot each: an audience chat, a wall of wishes, a karaoke queue, subtitles a sentence at a time. Messages come from a WebSocket Client’s Connection (any JSON — field names in Settings — or plain text) or from Text In: Send When picks Text Change (every new Text In is a message; typed by hand, on Return) or Manual (only on Send — a cable or the Inspector button). A Text Guard’s Guard checks each one; the server’s messages wait until one is cabled with rules, Text In goes on unchecked while no Guard is cabled. A message takes a free slot, appears for Born seconds, stays Read seconds and leaves in Flight; then Delivered pulses with Delivered Text and Signature. Deliveries keep Min Gap apart; when messages pile up, Read shortens towards Min Read, reached when Queue for Min Read messages are waiting (Pressure 0…1 shows how close). Mode: Off (they wait), Live, or Demo (prepared messages from a file, about every Demo Every seconds; real ones first). Panic hides every message (they return to the queue): a short press toggles, a switch held on holds it. Letters is the list for a drawing node; Log Row is ready for CSV Log. With Server Receipts (Settings) the server is told each message’s state and its presence Code comes out on Code, Code Left and Code Bar.
Inputs
| Port | Type | Default |
|---|---|---|
| ConnectionCable a WebSocket Client’s Connection: messages as JSON (field names in Settings) or plain text. Optional — Text In works without it. | structure | — |
| GuardCable a Text Guard’s Guard: every message is checked with its rules. The server’s messages wait for a Guard with loaded rules; Text In goes on unchecked only while no Guard is cabled. | structure | — |
| ModeOff: messages wait in the queue. Live: they are shown. Demo: prepared messages from the file chosen in Settings, real ones still first. | int | 0 |
| PanicHides every letter (they go back to the queue) and tells the server. A short press toggles it; a switch held on keeps it until it goes off. | bool | false |
| SlotsHow many letters may be on show at once (1…32). Match the Sealed Letters’ Slots. | int | 6 |
| BornSeconds a new letter takes to appear in its slot. | float | 0.5 |
| ReadSeconds a letter stays to be read before it flies, while the queue is calm. | float | 3 |
| Min ReadThe shortest reading time when letters pile up: Read shortens towards it as Pressure rises. | float | 1.5 |
| FlightSeconds a letter flies to the target; Delivered pulses when it lands. | float | 1.5 |
| Min GapLeast seconds between two deliveries, so every shot gets its own text (at least 0.05). | float | 0.35 |
| Queue for Min ReadA number of messages. When this many wait in the queue, each is read only Min Read seconds. Read 3, Min Read 1.5, 10 here: 0 waiting → 3 s each, 5 → 2.25 s, 10 or more → 1.5 s. Lower = speeds up sooner. | int | 10 |
| Demo EveryDemo: on average a prepared letter every this many seconds (random gaps, at least 0.2). | float | 8 |
| Text InA message from any cable — Transcription, OSC, Keyboard, Web Data — or typed here. Send When says when it goes. Checked only when a Text Guard is cabled. | string | |
| Signature InOptional signature for the Text In message, e.g. who said it. | string | |
| SendManual: each switch from off to on sends Text In as a new message — cable a button or key, or press Send. Mode must be Live for it to show. | bool | false |
| Send WhenText Change: every new Text In is a message (typed here: on Return). Manual: only on Send — its cable or the Send button. | int | 0 |
