Color node
RGB Color
Compose a color from individual Red, Green, Blue, and Alpha channel values. This is the fundamental color constructor in Grafit -- specify exact RGBA values (each normalized 0 to 1) to produce any color in the sRGB color space.
Inputs
| Port | Type | Default |
|---|---|---|
| RedAmount of red in the mix. Clamped to 0…1, so pushing past 1 will not brighten the color further. | float | 1 |
| GreenAmount of green in the mix. Clamped to 0…1. | float | 1 |
| BlueAmount of blue in the mix. Clamped to 0…1. | float | 1 |
| AlphaOpacity of the result. Clamped to 0…1, where 0 is fully transparent. | float | 1 |
Outputs
| Port | Type |

| Color | color |
How It Works
RGB Color takes four float inputs and packs them into a single color value (internally a with components in RGBA order). This color can then be connected to any color input on other nodes — fill colors, border colors, text colors, particle colors, and more.
All channel values are normalized to the 0 — 1 range. Values outside this range are not clamped by the node itself, allowing for HDR workflows if needed, but most downstream nodes expect values within 0 — 1.
Common Color Recipes
| Color | R | G | B | A |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| White | 1.0 | 1.0 | 1.0 | 1.0 |
| Black | 0.0 | 0.0 | 0.0 | 1.0 |
| Red | 1.0 | 0.0 | 0.0 | 1.0 |
| Green | 0.0 | 1.0 | 0.0 | 1.0 |
| Blue | 0.0 | 0.0 | 1.0 | 1.0 |
| Yellow | 1.0 | 1.0 | 0.0 | 1.0 |
| Cyan | 0.0 | 1.0 | 1.0 | 1.0 |
| Magenta | 1.0 | 0.0 | 1.0 | 1.0 |
| 50% Gray | 0.5 | 0.5 | 0.5 | 1.0 |
| Transparent | 0.0 | 0.0 | 0.0 | 0.0 |
Use Cases
- Static colors — Set a precise color for shapes, text, or backgrounds by dialing in exact channel values.
- Data-driven color — Connect float outputs from sensors, math nodes, or MIDI controllers to the R, G, B inputs to create colors that respond to live data.
- Animated color — Feed Time or Waveform values through Math or Remap nodes into the channels for smoothly cycling colors.
- Alpha masking — Animate the Alpha input to fade elements in and out.
Tips
- To convert a hex color (e.g.
#3498DB), divide each 2-digit hex pair by 255: R = 0x34/255 = 0.204, G = 0x98/255 = 0.596, B = 0xDB/255 = 0.859. - If you need more intuitive color control (picking by hue and brightness), use the HSL Color node instead.
- To decompose a color back into its R, G, B, A components, use the Color to RGB node.
- Connect a Smooth node before each channel input for fluid color transitions.
