Joint Crop

Crops the source image — a live camera, a video or any generator — around any 2D point (landmark or mouse) sized by Zoom + Aspect.

Inputs

PortTypeDefault
ImageThe camera whose frame is cropped. Cable the same Camera Input that produced the point you are following.image—
XHorizontal position of the point the crop centres on, in Grafit units. Cable a landmark, a hand joint or the Mouse.float0
YVertical position of the point the crop centres on, in Grafit units. Cable it from the same source as X.float0
ActiveGate for the tracked point — cable a landmark's Found here. False means no crop this frame, so When Lost decides between holding and going transparent.booltrue
ZoomHow tight the crop is: 1 grabs half the frame height, 4 a quarter of that. At least 0.05; past about 20 you are magnifying single pixels.float2.0
Offset XPans the crop sideways from the point, in crop widths. Not clamped; 1 slides a full frame off the subject.float0
Offset YPans the crop up or down from the point, in crop heights. Not clamped; 1 slides a full frame off the subject.float0
Show AnchorDraws a small marker where the tracked point sits inside the output — handy while dialling in the anchor, then turn it off.boolfalse
Anchor XWhere the tracked point sits horizontally inside the output, and the pivot the zoom works around. 0 is centre, ±0.5 puts it on an edge.float0
Anchor YWhere the tracked point sits vertically inside the output, and the pivot the zoom works around. 0 is centre, ±0.5 puts it on an edge.float0
AspectShape of the output frame: Square, or Fixed to the ratio you type below. Anything other than Fixed stays square.int0
Aspect WWidth part of the fixed ratio, for example 16 in 16:9. Only used when Aspect is Fixed; values below 1 are treated as 1.int16
Aspect HHeight part of the fixed ratio, for example 9 in 16:9. Only used when Aspect is Fixed; values below 1 are treated as 1.int9
SmoothingDamps the jitter of the moving crop rectangle. Clamped to 0…1, where 0 snaps instantly and 1 glides with noticeable lag.float0.5
EdgeWhat happens when the crop runs off the camera frame: Transparent leaves a hole, Clamp smears the border pixels. Anything other than Transparent clamps.int0
When LostWhat to show when the point goes away: Hold freezes on the last good crop, Transparent draws nothing. Anything other than Hold goes transparent.int0
MirrorMirrors the incoming point left to right. It must match the mirroring of the tracking that produced the point, or the crop lands on the wrong side.booltrue
Invert YExtra vertical flip of the incoming point. Off is right for a default Vision Tracking (the Grafit-up → texture-down conversion is built in); turn it on only if the tracking itself was flipped and the crop lands above or below the subject.boolfalse
OpacityFades the cutout on the canvas. Not clamped; 0…1 is the working range and higher values add nothing.float1.0
Pos XHorizontal placement of the cutout on the canvas, in Grafit units where 0 is centre. Any value works.float0
Pos YVertical placement of the cutout on the canvas, in Grafit units where 0 is centre and positive is up. Any value works.float0
ScaleSize of the cutout on the canvas. Not clamped; 1 fills the viewport height, 0 and below make it vanish.float1.0
RotationTurns the cutout on the canvas, in degrees clockwise. Any value works; it just keeps spinning.float0

What It Does

Joint Crop is the general-purpose version of Face Crop: it zooms the camera image into any point you give it — a fingertip, an elbow, a tracked object, even the mouse — not just a face. Give it an X/Y and it produces a framed, zoomed view centered on that point.

How It Works

Connect the camera to Image and feed an X/Y (usually from a Landmark node). The crop size comes from Zoom and Aspect rather than a detected face box. The point you provide is mapped back through the camera's own transform, so the crop lands precisely on the feature no matter how the camera image is positioned. An optional Anchor marker shows exactly where the crop is centered.

Parameters

ParameterWhat it does
X / YThe point to center the crop on.
ZoomHow far in to zoom.
AspectSquare or a fixed width:height ratio.
ActiveWhether the source point is currently valid (drives When Lost).
When Lost / Mirror / OpacityBehavior when the point vanishes; flip; transparency.

Examples

  • Hand close-up — Hand Landmark (wrist) → Joint Crop → a zoomed view of the hand in a corner.
  • Magnifier — Mouse X/Y → Joint Crop for a loupe that follows the cursor.
  • Detail follow-cam — track any object point and keep it framed.

Tips

  • Digital zoom enlarges pixels — it doesn't add detail. For a sharp close-up, start from a high-resolution camera.
  • Turn on Show Anchor while setting up to see exactly what you're centering on.
