Vision node
Hand Landmark
Extracts a single hand joint. Attach a hand to a person (nearest wrist within a tolerance) or select by chirality, then pick a finger joint; outputs its position.
Inputs
| Port | Type | Default |
|---|---|---|
| BodyVision Tracking's Body output, used as the attachment reference — the hand is matched to that person's wrist. Ignored when Person is None. | json | — |
| HandsVision Tracking's Hands output — the pool of detected hands this picks from. Nothing connected reports not found. | json | — |
| PersonWhose hand to follow. None returns the first hand matching Side with no attachment; a person index takes the hand nearest that person's wrist. | int | -1 |
| SideLeft or Right hand. Anything other than Right is read as Left. | int | 0 |
| JointWhich hand joint to follow, from wrist to fingertips. A name that is not on the joint list falls back to the first joint. | string | |
| ToleranceHow near a hand's wrist must be to the person's wrist to count as theirs, in Grafit units. Anything under 0.001 is raised to it. | float | 0.02 |

What It Does
Picks out one joint of one hand from Vision Tracking — for example the tip of the index finger — and outputs its position. A hand has 21 landmarks: the wrist plus four joints on each of the five fingers (base → tip).
How It Works
Wire Vision Tracking's Hands output here (and optionally Body too). Because a loose hand and a person aren't automatically linked, this node lets you attach a hand to a person: choose a Person and a Side (left/right) and it finds the matching hand nearest that person's wrist, within a Tolerance distance. Or pick by chirality alone. Then choose the finger Joint to read.
Parameters
| Parameter | What it does |
|---|---|
| Person | Which person's hand (or "Any"). |
| Side | Left or right hand. |
| Joint | Which finger joint (e.g. index tip, thumb tip). |
| Tolerance | How close the hand must be to the person's wrist to count as "theirs". |
Examples
- Fingertip cursor — pick "index tip" → drive a glowing dot for touch-free pointing.
- Pinch detection — read "thumb tip" and "index tip" with two Hand Landmark nodes, measure the distance with Math → trigger when they pinch.
- Air drawing — feed the index tip into a particle trail.
Tips
- If a hand keeps attaching to the wrong person, lower the Tolerance.
- For a single user, "Any" person + a Side is the simplest setup.
