DMX node
DMX Sender
Send DMX data via Art-Net protocol over UDP.
Inputs
| Port | Type | Default |
|---|---|---|
| EnableStarts and stops the Art-Net stream. Off closes the connection and reports zero packets until it is switched back on. | bool | true |
| Universe DataThe channel values to send. A list goes straight through — element 0 is channel 1 — so Make Structure or Array Make cable in directly, and a colour per element fills that fixture's channels. A structure keyed by channel numbers addresses sparsely, as DMX Channel Map produces. | structure | — |
Outputs
| Port | Type |
|---|---|
| Connected | bool |
| Packets Sent | int |
| Channels | int |
How It Works
Sends DMX data using the Art-Net protocol over the local network via UDP. The Universe Data input accepts a structure (dictionary) where keys are DMX channel numbers as strings ("1" through "512") and values are brightness/intensity levels as floats (0 to 255). Art-Net universe, subnet, and destination IP are configured in Settings. The node transmits Art-Net packets at the standard DMX refresh rate. Typically connected to a DMX Channel Map node for a human-readable control interface.
Use Cases
- Controlling DMX lighting fixtures from a visual programming graph
- Driving LED installations with computed color and brightness data
- Creating synchronized light shows driven by audio analysis or sensor input
- Building interactive lighting installations that respond to real-time data
Tips
- Configure the Art-Net universe, subnet, and destination IP in app Settings
- Connect a DMX Channel Map node to the Universe Data input for named channel control
- Channel values are float 0-255, matching standard DMX levels
- Packets Sent output is useful for verifying that data is being transmitted
- Ensure your Art-Net destination device is on the same network subnet
