DMX node
DMX Receiver
Receive DMX data via Art-Net protocol over UDP.
Inputs
| Port | Type | Default |
|---|---|---|
| EnableStarts and stops listening for Art-Net over the network. Off releases the connection and reports zero channels until it is switched back on. | bool | true |
Outputs
| Port | Type |
|---|---|
| Connected | bool |
| Universe Data | structure |
| Active Channels | int |
| Source | string |
How It Works
Listens for Art-Net DMX packets on the local network via UDP. All 512 DMX channels are output as a structure (dictionary) where keys are channel numbers and values are intensity levels (0 to 255). The Art-Net universe and subnet to listen on are configured in Settings. Active Channels reports how many of the 512 channels currently have non-zero values, providing a quick overview of the incoming DMX activity.
Use Cases
- Receiving DMX data from a lighting console for visualization
- Monitoring Art-Net traffic on the local network
- Using incoming DMX values to drive visual parameters in real time
- Creating a DMX-to-visual bridge for live performance environments
Tips
- Configure the Art-Net universe and subnet to match your DMX source in app Settings
- Connect the Universe Data output to downstream nodes that extract specific channels
- Active Channels gives a quick indication of how much DMX data is present
- Ensure the sending device is broadcasting Art-Net on the same network subnet
