Array node
Array Max
Find the maximum value in a numeric array. Returns the largest value, its index position, and the total element count.
Inputs
| Port | Type |
|---|---|
| ArrayThe list to scan for its largest number. Non-numeric elements are skipped; with no numbers at all the value reads 0 and the index -1. | any |
Outputs
| Port | Type |
|---|---|
| Value | float |
| Index | int |
| Count | int |
How It Works
Array Max scans every numeric element and returns the largest value found, along with its zero-based Index position. If multiple elements share the maximum value, the index of the first occurrence is returned.
Use Cases
- Peak detection: Find the dominant frequency bin in an FFT output.
- Normalization: Use Min and Max together to remap array values to the 0–1 range.
- Brightness mapping: Find the brightest channel or highest sensor value to drive visual intensity.
- Channel identification: The Index output tells you which element (channel, electrode, sensor) has the highest value.
Tips
- Combine with Array Min to get the full range. Subtract Min from Max to get the dynamic range.
- For complete statistics in a single node, use Array Stats.
