Diffusion (Experimental) node

Diffusion

Experimental — results depend entirely on the model you supply, and a good one is not easy to come by. Generates an image from a text prompt on this Mac, with the model a Diffusion Model node loaded. Connect an Init Image to repaint an existing picture instead (Strength = how far it departs). Generation runs in the background and never stalls the graph: the last image stays up while Busy, Progress counts the steps, Done pulses when the new image lands. Auto regenerates shortly after any input changes; Manual waits for Generate. Same inputs and Seed give the same image on the same Mac. Expect seconds per image, not frames per second.

Inputs

PortTypeDefault
ModelThe Model output of a Diffusion Model node. Nothing generates until that model reports Loaded. One model can feed several Diffusion nodes.structure—
EnableOff cancels a running generation and clears the picture. On again regenerates (Auto) or waits for Generate (Manual).booltrue
PromptWhat the image should show. Models read the first 77 tokens (about 50 words); the rest is ignored. The text encoding is cached, so changing only Seed or Steps does not re-read the prompt.string
NegativeWhat the image should avoid. Only has an effect while Guidance is 1 or higher. Empty is fine.string
Init ImageOptional start picture: the model repaints it instead of starting from noise. It is centre-cropped to a square and sampled at the moment a generation starts — a live source does not retrigger this node. Needs a model with a VAEEncoder.image—
StrengthWith an Init Image: how far the result departs from it. 0.3 keeps the picture and restyles it, 0.6 keeps the composition, 1 ignores it. Also scales the work: at 0.5 only half the Steps run. Clamped 0.02–1.float0.6
StepsDenoising steps; time grows linearly with them. Standard models: 15–30. Few-step (turbo / LCM class) models: 1–4 — more does not help them. Clamped 1–150.int20
GuidanceHow strictly the prompt is followed. 7–8 is the classic range; higher gets harsher and oversaturated. Below 1 turns guidance off: twice as fast, Negative ignored — the setting few-step models expect (use 0). Not clamped.float7.5
SeedThe start noise. Same Seed and inputs give the same image on this Mac; a different Mac or Compute Units may differ slightly. Any whole number; taken modulo 2³².int42
Seed BA second start noise for Walk. Ignored while Walk is 0.int43
WalkBlends the start noise from Seed (0) to Seed B (1) along a sphere, so every point in between is a valid image: drive it slowly for a morph. Each new value is a new generation. Clamped 0–1.float0
ControlReserved for ControlNet (pose, outline or depth steering). Not used yet.structure—
ModeAuto regenerates about a third of a second after any input stops changing. Manual generates only on Generate — for slow models or when several inputs are set up first.int1
GenerateA rising edge starts a generation now, even with unchanged inputs, and re-samples the Init Image. If one is already running it is cancelled at its next step.boolfalse
Safety CheckerRuns the model's own safety checker on the result when the model folder includes one; a rejected image is not shown and Info says so. Has no effect for models that ship without a checker.booltrue
XHorizontal position of the picture in Grafit units. 0 is centred. Not clamped; ±2 covers the screen.float0
YVertical position of the picture in Grafit units. 0 is centred. Not clamped; ±2 covers the screen.float0
ScaleSize multiplier. 1 fits the square picture to the shorter side of the viewport. Not clamped; 0 hides it.float1.0
RotationClockwise rotation in degrees. Not clamped — it keeps spinning past 360.float0
Opacity0 invisible, 1 opaque. Above 1 is already opaque.float1.0
True SizeOn: one model pixel per screen pixel — a 512 px picture stays 512 px, sharp, whatever the viewport. Off: the picture is scaled to fit the shorter side of the viewport (soft when the model is smaller than the screen). Scale multiplies either.booltrue
